HD-Sydsvenskan is the name of the merger of Sydsvenska Dagbladet and Helsingborgs Dagblad, which for 170 and 150 years respectively have provided the people of Skåne with daily news. At their two largest editorial offices, they have Convini stores that provide them with everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner to the energy needed to finish the newspaper and send it to print in the small hours.
Annika Harlegård, Head of Internal Services, thinks the new food solution is great – and the coffee is hard to beat. She explains:
– In our old premises, we had our own restaurant in the building where everyone went to eat. But then, when we moved into the city center, it became more spread out and more difficult to have a good lunch during the break. We have such special working hours here too, people sit until half past one at night to finish the newspaper. So it’s super convenient to always have food and snacks close by and the Convini store really has everything!

In a newspaper editorial office, which is basically in operation around the clock, there is naturally a lot of coffee. In Malmö, HD-Sydsvenskan has five coffee machines on its three floors.
– I actually did a test before we decided which coffee to have. I packed the car full of people and took them to a tasting where the Convinis coffee was clearly the best. We even have a machine that makes real cappuccino, we call it the “fine coffee machine”. I don’t eat and drink much from the Convini store, but for me the coffee is crucial – a really good coffee can lift a whole day, says Annika.
In addition, we avoid the problem of keeping track of coffee and other things at home. Convini ensures that food and coffee are always replenished. You never have to be without anything, which I think is absolutely fantastic!
